NFL: Dallas Cowboys-Training Camp Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Our daily recap of the sights and sounds from the Cowboys training camp practice in Oxnard. Today’s practice was the fifth practice and third straight padded practice.

First things first, the Cowboys signed another receiver after Cedrick Wilson’s torn labrum will land him on IR for his rookie season:

A few other pre-practice notes:

One of everyone’s favorite sights is watching Cowboys secondary coach Kris Richard teaching his defensive backs:

The defensive backs are important but you could argue that the MVP of this football team is Ezekiel Elliott:

The first-round pick, Leighton Vander Esch, showing some violence here on day five of camp:

If you want violence, there’s nothing better than watching DeMarcus Lawrence:

As practice got underway, we start here with a pass from Dak Prescott to Michael Gallup:

Gallup was also getting some work in with Cooper Rush:

Another receiver that’s been impressing early is Deonte Thompson, here he is connecting with Dak Prescott:

Dak was looking crips and ready, here he finds Tavon Austin:

Dak to Cole Beasley on this one, this connection could be very important in 2018:

Chidobe Awuzie has looked every part of the best cornerback on the Cowboys roster:

Speaking of the defensive backs, we got our second little scuffle after things were getting heated between Lance Lenoir and Jourdan Lewis:

When in doubt, just hand the ball to Zeke, slicing through the defense:

Dak instituted some read option in today’s practice:

In compete period, the Cowboys DB’s were ready and so was Kris Richard, he was certainly irritating some of the receivers:

Anthony Brown becomes the second Cowboys’ DB to pick up an interception:

Dan Bailey...just straight money:

Compete period is everyone’s favorite part of practice:

Taco Charlton got dinged up today, it appears to be a hand injury:

Chidobe Awuzie was the standout player of the day in today’s practice. Rep after rep, he was there to show everyone he’s got it:

That’s a wrap on today’s practice as the offense got a whipping today that they won’t soon forget:
