Just a few weeks ago we talked about how one oddsmaker listed Jason Garrett as having the ninth-best odds to be the first head coach fired in 2018.
Odds are all the rage. It’s July which means you can get quite a steal if you’re smart enough. While the odds on Garrett don’t seem too believable, the latest ones do. We’re talking about opening odds for playoff teams this season.
Dallas is opening at a +145 line to make the playoffs, which is good for you if you believe in them. We’ll save you the time from scrolling up and down to count how many are better. The Cowboys have the 16th-best odds at making the playoffs.
The Falcons, Ravens, Panthers, Packers, Texans, Jaguars, Chiefs, Chargers, Rams, Vikings, Patriots, Saints, Steelers, Eagles, and 49ers are who Dallas trails in terms of 2018 playoff odds. Almost half (seven) of the Cowboys season will be played against these teams, so at least it’s technically the minority.
Looking at what’s happened over the course of the offseason and considering the most recent season we all watched, honestly, this feels fair as far as who’s ahead of the Cowboys. The Chiefs and 49ers are both experiencing a bit of perhaps too much hype, but it’s understandable hype at the very least.
What about you, BTB? What do you think?
Are these odds fair as far as the Cowboys playoff chances?
