Wednesday was a rough day for the Cowboys injury-wise as word of Travis Frederick dealing with a “stinger” surfaced before the team even practiced. Panic began to set in everywhere.
When practice actually started things got a little worse. Tavon Austin and Leighton Vander Esch left the field at different times. Dallas had gotten through training camp relatively unscathed so far, but apparently the last padded practice (we believe) of Oxnard had something in store for the team.
Information tends to trickle out at the end of practice, and Wednesday was no different. Thankfully we got some much-needed updates.
Rest easy, Travis Frederick is fine
Travis Frederick says everything checked out with his doctor visit. Main response to his recent stingers is simply to rest. He’s not sure when he’ll be back to practice, but it’s not a larger issue #cowboyswire

Travis Frederick said he is fine. Just needs rest to let inflammation subside..no long term concern

That gust you felt was the collective deep sigh of Cowboys fans everywhere. Nobody wanted to consider what life without Travis Frederick could be like, and thankfully it seems like we won’t have to.
Tavon Austin had a tight hamstring, Leighton Vander Esch dealt with his groin
Tavon Austin’s hamstring apparently felt a little tight so the Cowboys kept him out of the rest of practice, precautionary. Leighton Vander Esch (groin) did not complete practice. #cowboyswire

The Cowboys don't believe Tavon Austin's tight hamstring is a big concern. He was removed from practice early on more as a precaution.

WR Tavon Austin (hamstring) & first round pick Leighton Vander Esch (groin) left practice & didn’t return. “It didn’t seem serious,” owner Jerry Jones said. “We just held them out.”

Thankfully it seems as if Tavon Austin is alright and that his hamstring tightening up was just a one-time thing. The Cowboys have been at training camp for a while now so it makes sense that the body would be sore and bite back. Hopefully the biting is done for the time being.
It’s not ideal that LVE didn’t complete practice, but it seems like him not doing so was also precautionary measures by the Cowboys. Considering they play another game on Saturday and that their bodies have been through a lot this is a wise practice.
Wednesday was a bit of a tough day for Cowboys fans as we were on pins and needles for most of it. We survived though, and now we get to keep on moving forward. Thank goodness.
