Cowboys 2018 training camp: Practice #7 recap with photos and videos

All you need to know from the Cowboys practice today.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys-Training Camp Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Thursday’s practice was the Cowboys seventh training camp practice and the fifth practice in pads. The Cowboys also had a little bit of roster movement before practice was underway:

That’s right people, the Cowboys got great news when Kavon Frazier made his return to the practice field:

It looks as though a couple of Cowboys veterans will be getting a rest day:

Ah...yes...the hybrid player who is part receiver, part pass rusher. Never mind, we got a correction:

Kavon Frazier taking reps, just easing himself into practice after being sidelined for a week:

Here’s a look at the defensive backs, they have been stealing the show somewhat over the first week or so of training camp:

It’s a little old school but Leighton Vander Esch likes to wear the neck roll:

The opportunity is huge for Jihad Ward and he hasn’t been disappointing early into training camp:

Alright, drills are cool but let’s get to some competition, Rico Gathers makes it tough on LVE:

Haven’t heard much from Duke Thomas yet but here he is covering MeKale McKay:

Chidobe Awuzie is not about to let anyone leap on him and come down with the ball:

Donovan Olumba has shown pretty well thus far but he gets totally sauced by Cole Beasley here:

One guy who didn’t get sauced by Beasley was Jourdan Lewis, that’s sticky coverage if I do say so myself:

Wow, Jameill Showers with the pass breakup on Rico Gathers:

KD Cannon got a win over Marquez White:

One way to go about it is Cam Fleming here just making sure he contains the rush:

La’el Collins has been dominant against all takers, not today Kony Ealy:

Dorance Armstrong gave Collins all he could handle in this rep:

Datone Jones beats Travis Frederick and shows some strength too:

One is all your going to get, Datone Jones!

Both Brian Price and Jihad Ward give great reps against Travis Frederick and Zack Martin:

Not a chance against Martin on this rep though:

Justin March-Lillard has been relatively quiet throughout the first handful of practices but he holds off Darius Jackson:

In team drills, Tavon Austin shows why he’s such a dynamic weapon to have:

Dak Prescott with a beauty here to escape the pressure and deliver a strike to Blake Jarwin:

Terrance Williams sure has some nifty moves:

Handoff to Bo Scarbrough, that’s a big dude coming through:

Rod Smith got him a piece too, he’s going to have a role come September:

A little dump off to Ezekiel Elliott because it’s a safe bet:

Yesterday’s standout, Michael Gallup finds another crease against Byron Jones:

Cole Beasley giving Dak an open target while he’s on the move:

Beasley limped off the field after this play but he later returned:

It’s hard to determine who’s going to snag the Cowboys final roster spot at receiver but it’s just as difficult to leave this guy’s name out:

Daily check on Dan Bailey...it’s good!

Jason Garrett orders the music be turned way up... still true!

Oh no, we suck again!

Not a good day to trust a punt returner for the Cowboys:

It’s RED ZONE TIME!!!

Michael Gallup trying to seal a block on Byron Jones but the DB keeps fighting:

Gallup welcomes contact from anyone in his way:

Kris Richard is one of the most animated Cowboys coaches in a long time:

Tavon Austin again with the grab:

Dak finding the only tight end on the roster with an NFL catch:

Terrance Williams is right there when Dak needs to unload the ball:

Not sure if TWill was out of bounds or not?

Wait...on second look, that’s a touchdown for Terrance Williams:

Just not much you can do to stop Rico from getting the score here:

McKay certainly got up there but that foot may have been out of bounds:

Almost a pick but it was dropped:

Byron Jones denies Tavon Austin with the PBU here:

Chido breaks up the Dak-to-Gallup connection:

Back again, Chido almost has a pick off Dak Prescott, intended for Tavon:

Jourdan Lewis loves to rattle a receiver, here he is being extra friendly with Lance Lenoir:

Oh Rod Smith, don’t try that on Marquez White:

Tavon has also been working up a rapport with Prescott:

In two-minute drill, Rod Smith let’s Dalton Schultz know he better get out of bounds:

Bo Scarbrough just rumbling and tumbling through the defense:

That’s a wrap on practice and David Helman always has a decent way to put a bow on things:

Don’t forget to keep checking back to BTB, the Cowboys have a day off tomorrow but there won’t be any resting around here!
