The Dallas Cowboys lost their third preseason game to the Arizona Cardinals, 27-3. The Cowboys offense and special teams combined to turn the ball over eight times. The Cardinals scored 14 points on a fumbled punt and a pick-six.
The Cowboys starting defense looked good again, with Randy Gregory making his mark with a sack, multiple tackles and some other pressures. If it wasn’t for the turnovers, the Cowboys could have been in the game. But without much of their starting offensive line, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, the offense was just never in the game.
Dallas will move on to their last preseason game and hope to get better play out of some of their depth players. Backup quarterback Cooper Rush, for one, could use a good game as he’s had some issues this preseason.
Fourth Quarter
Cowboys going for a record as Mike White throws an interception, Dallas has eight turnovers on the night.
Well, the Cowboys just can’t put anything together on offense in this game. Every time they do, a turnover kills it.
Mike White showing a little life with the offense, and Rico Gathers getting involved. Then, a sack strip and a turnover for Dallas. Number seven on the night for Dallas.
Third Quarter
It would appear that Kris Richard is not happy with the effort in this game.

Cowboys fumble again, Blake Jarwin is the guilty party and that’s the sixth turnover for Dallas in the game.
Cardinals bust a 59-yard run for a TD on their third play from scrimmage in the second half, breaking the game open 24-0.

Second Quarter
Cooper Rush throws an interception in the end zone killing a chance for the Cowboys to put points on the board. The Cowboys offense and special teams are no shows in this game, combined for five turnovers.
Arizona adds a field goal, now lead 17-0.
Cowboys defense looks good, offense and special teams struggling.
Rod Smith tries to hurdle Patrick Peterson and fumbles the ball, the Cardinals recover.
First Quarter

Pregame
Looks like we might not see Dak Prescott or Ezekiel Elliott in this game.
BREAKING NEWS, in case you didn't follow bread crumbs from last few days. Sources say Cowboys won't play QB Dak Prescott or RB Ezekiel Elliott this evening. That means Elliott won't play at all in preseason & Prescott's last game will be 22 days before opener against Carolina.

It’s the third preseason game for the Dallas Cowboys, and that generally means the “dress rehearsal” where the starters see extended time. Will the Cowboys follow the tradition this time around? With the recent injury to Zack Martin and the diagnosis of Guillain-Barre Syndrome for Travis Frederick, Cowboys fans are feeling anxious about their offensive line. Fortunately Martin should be back for the season-opener but won’t be playing in this game, and nobody really knows how long Frederick will be out. Will the Cowboys hold back Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott with the middle of their line missing? How much will they hold back other players?
On defense, guys like Sean Lee and DeMarcus might see limited time, if they play at all, but there are plenty of other spots where players need to get reps. Randy Gregory could definitely benefit from playing time in this game, and on offense players like Cole Beasley and Tavon Austin are coming back from injury.
We’ll have to see how much the Cowboys adhere to the “dress rehearsal” rules or if they decide to play it more cautious. For additional thoughts on this, check out our roundtable post.
