Just before their third preseason game came to a merciful end, news regarding one of the better performers for the Cowboys on Sunday night arose on Twitter. We’re talking about Randy Gregory.
Hearing there could be more trouble ahead for Randy Gregory

Jason La Canfora tweeted that “there could be more trouble ahead” regarding Randy Gregory, and obviously that’s a big thing to say. Gregory is a player who literally just got back into the good graces of the NFL after missing over a year, and he played marvelously on Sunday night. Any kind of trouble would be bad.
Predictably Jerry Jones was flooded with questions regarding his status when he met with the local media following the game. Also, predictably, he assured the world that he expects Gregory will be playing for the Cowboys come Week 1 on the road against the Carolina Panthers.
Jerry Jones continues to say Randy Gregory’s off the field issues are a day to day thing. Gregory left the locker room without talking to reporters

Jerry Jones said he expects Randy Gregory to play in season opener. Acknowledges players who have been suspended recently are vulnerable in NFL’s program.

It’s interesting to note that Jerry said he “expects” Gregory to be playing because there isn’t a certainty attached to it. It’s also interesting to note that he said players in the program that Gregory is in are vulnerable. This could be reading too much into things, but a report that trouble was ahead for Gregory preceded all of this which necessitates deeper digging.
While Jerry Jones is assuring people of what he expects remember what he said last week regarding a different Cowboys player. Jerry said that he expected Travis Frederick to play in Week 1 as well last Wednesday, and just one day later news that Travis had been diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome surfaced. It isn’t always as it seems.
We’ll of course keep you updated with the very latest here at BTB as more information becomes available.
Update 12:28am ET
WFAA’s Mike Leslie reports that according to their sources there isn’t anything going on with Randy Gregory that would be out of the ordinary, but as the DMN’s Jon Machota points out Jerry Jones has been very particular with how he’s addressed this situation so far.
According to a #Cowboys front office source, they’re unaware of any trouble for DE Randy Gregory. Owner Jerry Jones said tonight it’s a day-to-day process with Gregory, but didn’t say there are any issues at hand.

It is interesting how cautious Jerry Jones has been when discussing Randy Gregory. Whether it's on the radio or in person, Jones is usually overly optimistic when it comes to anything related to the Cowboys
