There’s officially going to be a Tony Romo episode of “A Football Life”

Who’s excited?

Back in the middle of May we talked about how it looked like there was a Tony Romo episode of “A Football Life” on the way. Get excited, friends.

With the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement happening on Saturday, NFL Films released the list of names they’ll chronicle this season on AFL. Tony Romo is indeed among them.

Romo’s episode airs on September 28th, the Friday before the Cowboys host the Lions. This is fitting as one of his greatest games ever is the 2014 Wildcard win over Detroit.

His episode is obviously going to be great, but if I’m being honest it feels a little early to get an AFL episode on Romo. He’s only been out of the game for one season, but to be fair he did capture football fans’ hearts everywhere with his abilities in the broadcast booth. It just feels like there should be some time in between leaving and this type of stuff. Carson Palmer just retired this offseason and that proves the same point.

We’ve gotten AFL episodes on Cowboys fairly recently. Emmitt Smith and Jerry Jones got episodes over the last two years, Romo’s next, maybe we’ll even get a Jason Witten one over the next couple of seasons.

What are you hoping to see from this Romo episode? His life was a movie come to life, there’s an awful lot to compress into just one hour!
