The first week of the preseason means different things for different teams. Some clubs choose to play starters while others take things a little slow.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are dipping a toe into the waters in San Francisco. Starters, save for Ezekiel Elliott and Sean Lee, are going to play against the 49ers.
Surprise: Cowboys will depart from their normal routine & play QB Dak Prescott & the majority of the starters a series or two in tonight’s preseason opener vs. SF. RB Ezekiel Elliott & LB Sean Lee are the exceptions.

This definitely makes Thursday’s game all the more interesting. There are a lot of questions as to how the Cowboys offense is going to run in 2018, getting to see it against another NFL team is what we’ve all been waiting for.
With Elliott on the sidelines we’ll get to see what will effectively be the starting offense without him. His absence from the offense was part of what derailed the season a year ago, if the Cowboys move fluidly without him on Thursday then there’s all the more reason for confidence (if they don’t it doesn’t mean we should freak out either).
Also on the subject of the game, we’re holding a contest here at BTB. We had a few shirts left from our meet-up in Oxnard last week, and we figured who better to have them than the fantastic BTB community?
The shirt is pictured below, and it is a size small. We’ll do this again next week, for the San Francisco game it’s just a one shirt prize.
HERE’S THE CONTEST:
Guess the combined total offensive yardage from the Cowboys and 49ers on Thursday night. Whoever comes the closest without going over wins. If everyone goes over (that would be amazing) then the closest wins. Standard rules for this type of thing.
You must submit your entry as a comment in order to be entered. If two people guess the same number the person who guessed first will win.
Who’s excited to see some starters?!
