Cowboys vs Giants: Rico Gathers is active, Randy Gregory is not

Who’s out and who’s in for week two at home?

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Are you ready for some football? Sunday night football kicks off here shortly and the official list of inactives are out for both teams. If you’re unfamiliar with the process, the team must cut their 53-man roster down to 46 before the start of the game. Here’s the list of each teams seven inactives.

Dallas Cowboys Inactives

Two pieces of big news here. One is Rico Gathers is finally going to see some real NFL action. The polarizing tight end will get his chance, if the Cowboys get him on the field. The other is Randy Gregory, although that news was kind of expected. Gregory was absent all week from practice until Friday while going through the concussion protocol. Gregory was said to be a game-time-decision, and as you can see, they decided to play it safe with the former second-round pick.

Xavier Su’a-Filo is still new to the playbook, so Adam Redmond will get the call up as Su’a-Filo studies.

New York Giants Inactives

Olivier Vernon has been nursing a high-ankle sprain since preseason and was expected to be out. The loss of Vernon is a huge one for the Giants defense, because Vernon is normally one of the few players that gives Tyron Smith problems.

The division lead is on the line tonight with Philadelphia and Washington losing earlier today. Can the Cowboys pull through at home to beat the division rival New York Giants. We’ll will find out shortly!
