The Dallas Cowboys were off yesterday as Week 8 was their bye, but they’ll be back in action in a couple of days preparing for their Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants.
This is the first time that Dallas will get to see rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. He figures to be a fixture in this historic rivalry as the G-Men have fully moved on from Eli Manning as starting QB. The game will take place on Monday Night Football so Jason Witten will get to see his old teammates in Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland.
As the world last saw the Cowboys on national television in Week 7’s edition of Sunday Night Football, the last impression that people have of them is how the team played that night. Dallas took care of the Philadelphia Eagles with ease and as a result there is once again optimism surrounding America’s Team.
How optimistic are people, exactly? Thankfully there’s a way to put an actual point value on it. The fine folks over at BetOnline have the Cowboy favored in Week 9... by a whole touchdown (seven-point favorites).
Remember that the Cowboys won their first matchup against the Giants when they met in the season opener. The score then was 35-17 so a touchdown seems quite doable, but to be fair we don’t exactly know what Daniel Jones will offer.
There is still a lot of time before this game gets going, we haven’t even played this week’s edition of MNF. Still though, what do you think of that line?
