NFL odds post-trade deadline favor the Dallas Cowboys winning the NFC East

May the odds be ever in your favor, Dallas.

The NFL trade deadline has come and gone and the Dallas Cowboys were one of the teams that brought in some new talent. Dallas acquired Michael Bennett from the New England Patriots which figures to bolster their defensive line; if the defense can turn things around over the second half of the season then this team can really realize its true potential.

What is the potential for the 2019 Cowboys, though? As in, what do we think they’ll do? They’re 4-3, have some tough games between now and the post-season, and football is a crazy sport where anything can happen. Will this team win their division and more?

All of that remains to be seen, but for what it’s worth, oddsmakers seem to think that’s what’s most likely. The latest batch of odds, courtesy of our friends at BetOnline, have the Cowboys favored to win the NFC East and among the top teams to win the conference and appear in Super Bowl LIV.

Odds to win NFC East

Dallas Cowboys, 2/3

Philadelphia Eagles, 6/5

New York Giants, 20/1

Washington Redskins, 500/1

Odds to win NFC

New Orleans Saints, 11/4

San Francisco 49ers, 9/2

Green Bay Packers, 5/1

Dallas Cowboys, 8/1

Los Angeles Rams, 8/1

Minnesota Vikings, 8/1

Seattle Seahawks, 9/1

Philadelphia Eagles, 12/1

Carolina Panthers, 25/1

Detroit Lions, 25/1

Chicago Bears, 33/1

Arizona Cardinals, 50/1

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 150/1

Atlanta Falcons Falcons, 250/1

New York Giants, 250/1

Washington Redskins, 2500/1

The Cowboys also have the sixth-best odds to win Super Bowl LIV. Only the Patriots, Saints, Packers, 49ers, and Chiefs are in front of them. They also have appearances in other sorts of odds, like who’s going to be named league MVP at the end of the season.

Many have made the case that Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP-like level. Oddsmakers agree, although they have a few guys ahead of him.

MVP Odds

Aaron Rodgers, 9/4

Russell Wilson, 11/4

Christian McCaffrey, 8/1

Pat Mahomes, 8/1

Lamar Jackson, 9/1

Deshaun Watson, 10/1

Tom Brady, 16/1

Kirk Cousins, 18/1

Drew Brees, 25/1

Dak Prescott, 33/1

Jacoby Brissett, 33/1

Jimmy Garoppolo, 33/1

Carson Wentz, 50/1

It’s interesting to see Brees ahead of Prescott considering the former just returned from missing some serious time, but he’s a face of the NFL and that’s a huge factor in the MVP award. It so rarely goes to the true “most valuable” player and instead goes to someone who had a great season that is widely known by football fans.

Which of these odds do you like? Do you think they’re fair to the Cowboys?
