The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Chicago Bears last Thursday and ever since then (it’s only been a few days, but still) things have been somewhat toxic around the team. Three losses in a row has to sting. It was pretty obvious that that was the case for Jerry Jones as he cursed so much on his Friday radio appearance with 105.3 The Fan that the radio station’s dump system literally kicked him off of the air.
A lot of things are being said these days and by a lot of people. In the immediate aftermath of the Chicago loss, NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported that the Cowboys - potentially in need of a new head coach - had previously met with former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.
Considering Jerry was not in the mood to dance on Friday morning he was asked about it on his Tuesday appearance (he’s on the radio a lot). He denied the Cowboys having met with Urban. Hmm.
“I can confirm that it’s absolutely not correct. We have not met with any coach” said Jones when asked about a report that Stephen Jones has met with former Ohio State University coach Urban Meyer about a possible coaching position with Dallas.
This could just be a matter of semantics at its core. It’s possible the Cowboys have “talked to” Urban or “texted” Urban or “spoken on the phone with” Urban without having literally met with him, but of course it’s also possible that Jerry is being totally authentic and honest in saying that there has been absolutely zero movement from the Cowboys towards him.
