Good for Travis Frederick who overcame so much to return to the team.

We are approaching the very end of the NFL regular season which means that a lot of things are starting to happen and fall into place. Before you know it, it’ll be Super Bowl LIV and the Dallas Cowboys (obviously) will be getting ready to play in it. All kidding aside, the season is flying by and we continue to pass each checkpoint that lets us know that fact.

The night before the Super Bowl, the NFL will have their annual NFL Honors show where they will award various things like MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, so on and so forth. Perhaps the most prestigious award is the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award that exemplifies incredible work in a player’s community as well as on-field production. It is the most honorable award that an NFL player can win throughout his time in the league.

Each of the 32 teams has a nominee for the award and the list was announced on Thursday. Travis Frederick is the 2019 Dallas Cowboys nominee for it.

The world became a bit more aware of Frederick last season when he battled Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He overcame it and hasn’t missed a start this season. That’s an incredible physical and mental achievement.

All throughout his career Frederick has worked through his Blocking Out Hunger Foundation to which serves to provide inner-city and low-income children with support in regards to hunger.

Of the other 31 nominees for the award, there is another player who once put on the Cowboys star. Brandon Carr, now with the Baltimore Ravens, has always been very focused on his community (including when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs) and is their nominee. The Ravens even released a video of head coach John Harbaugh announcing it which is very cool to see.

Congratulations to Travis Frederick, Brandon Carr, and the other 30 nominees!
