The Dallas Cowboys said on Monday that they would be looking into adding a linebacker this week, and it appears that we are getting very close to that happening. Dallas is already dealing with Leighton Vander Esch having an injury, and they lost a role player for the season in Luke Gifford. The Cowboys need to find a way to replace that production and it appears that they’re turning to an old friend... of Kris Richard’s. According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater it might be time to get ready for Malcolm Smith.
Smith was in Seattle with Kris Richard where he won a Super Bowl MVP. He most recently played for the Jaguars. https://t.co/stxbDxGBhb

Smith was named MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII when the Seattle Seahawks dismantled the Denver Broncos. Since then he’s spent time with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was released by the Jags earlier this season.
It certainly can’t hurt to add someone with a history like Malcolm Smith’s, plus we’re talking about a specialty role here, not someone that’s going to be asked to come in and contribute significantly. Hopefully the Cowboys can establish some legitimate depth as the biggest game of their season is this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
