Zach Ertz is out for the Eagles game against the Giants, that’s huge news for the Cowboys

Scoreboard watching will be the thing for the Cowboys.

Due to the hole that the Dallas Cowboys have dug for themselves, we now all have to root for the Philadelphia Eagles to lose on Sunday. To be perfectly clear we are never going to root for, or celebrate any type of injury, but the reality is that the Dallas Cowboys can only be a playoff team if Philadelphia loses.

The Eagles will visit the New York Giants on Sunday so all hope is pinned to Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. The G-Men played the Eagles tough in Philadelphia a few weeks ago, this game will take place in the Big Apple (not literally) and will feature Daniel Jones at quarterback over Eli Manning.

It seems fair to assume that the Giants will be able to score against the Eagles given how porous Philly’s defense is (Dallas couldn’t capitalize, for what it’s worth). The bigger issue is going to be what Carson Wentz is, or isn’t, able to do when the Eagles are on offense. That just became all the more difficult as the Eagles officially ruled out tight end Zach Ertz on Friday.

Ertz was just about the last legitimate receiving option for Carson Wentz, Dallas Goedert now stands alone. Philadelphia has been down at wide receiver for some time now (Greg Ward Jr. was able to be effective enough against the Cowboys though) and with Ertz officially out it’s hard to see Philadelphia being able to score a lot.

Both the Eagles/Giants and Redskins/Cowboys games will be happening in the afternoon window on Sunday so the Cowboys will be having to scoreboard watch as they try to win their own game.

What do you think is going to happen?
