The Dallas Cowboys are officially in offseason mode, and while that is a bit sad, it hardly means that the work stops. There will likely be a lot of changes at The Star over the next few months and they will likely include a change at head coach. We have no idea who will be the man leading America’s team in 2020 so that makes it difficult to know what they would like, but we do know that they will be influential in a lot of choices. Choices like which players to keep and which ones to let walk.

Remember that while generally each NFL team can only place one franchise or transition tag in a given offseason, this coming offseason is different per the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
In the 2020 offseason NFL teams can place both the franchise and transition tags on two different players and it’s likely that the Dallas Cowboys will need to utilize this exception as they have decisions to make on some notable players.
