While it is officially the second day of the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, there are still no major changes to report from the franchise. By now, many expected the organization to have moved on publicly from Jason Garrett and admit that the last almost-decade was a collection of missed opportunities that they were pledging to correct in the New Year. That can still be the case, it just isn’t as of now.
Many people were perplexed by how Jason Garrett was retained through Monday as the writing on the wall seemed to indicate that his time at The Star was over. Tuesday morning arrived and not much has changed except for the fact that he is scheduled to meet with the Jones family. Keep that last word in mind.
Cowboys and Jason Garrett are scheduled to meet at noon CT today, per sources. Resolution likely, but not definite. Expectation continues to be Garrett and Dallas will part ways, but the Cowboys are run as a family, Garrett has been a part of family, and it’s hard to part ways.

All outcomes are still possible meaning that the team could still decide to keep Jason Garrett around. Until a decision is made, we simply will not know what the Jones family is thinking.
The Cowboys doing their due diligence is certainly something that should be commended. Moving on from a head coach is a big deal and therefore you should be absolutely certain that doing so is the proper move for your organization.
But this isn’t a decision that is just now needing to be made. It has been obvious for some time - some years to some - that this is the necessary domino the Cowboys must topple over. Drawing it out like this is doing nobody any favors, Jason Garrett included, so there doesn’t seem to be much sense in it.
Update: 12:00pm ET
Is it beginning?
A source inside the Star tells me #Cowboys HC Jason Garrett has said goodbyes to several staff members while exchanging information to keep in touch. Late with Christmas cards or the end inevitable? Stay tuned.
