Free agency in the NFL is just around the corner, this week is going to be a lot of fun.
There are some names that Cowboys fans have circled on a list as people that they want to wear the blue and silver. Odds are high that Earl Thomas sits atop yours, and potentially even the one at The Star in Frisco.
A feeling that the Cowboys might no longer be interested has been circling around social media, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. According to Ian Rapoport the Cowboys are “by no means” out of the Thomas discussion.
Well, @RapSheet on NFL Network saying that the Cowboys are "by no means out" on Earl Thomas. So, the 49ers might have to win a bidding war.— Dylan DeSimone (@DylanADeSimone) March 10, 2019
Money is a huge issue at times like these and Earl likely wants a lot. Going off of this tweet of Jane Slater’s, some things need to change if this is going to come to fruition.
“In” if the number is right, the number is not even close right now. News to my team sources— Jane Slater (@SlaterNFL) March 10, 2019
We’ll see just what kind of offer the Cowboys are willing to present to Thomas, the agent-driven discussions of this process have the world believing that he wants to be the highest-paid safety in the NFL. That’s definitely possible, but the situation with the safety market is going to definitely influence the way that some guys are paid. Perhaps no position on the free agent market has as much depth and quality as the safety position. If teams are willing to wait on the top-tier players because they feel they can still get quality from the next tier, prices could come down.
