The schedule for the 2019 Dallas Cowboys season is set to be released on Wednesday, April 17th at 8 PM ET. We’re about to find out when every game is going to happen. That’s fun.
Typically news tends to trickle out about this information before the actual schedule is released (shocker!). Here’s our tracker for all Cowboys schedule-related rumors and notes.
The season will begin at home against the Giants
Stop me if you’ve heard this before... the Dallas Cowboys will host the New York Giants in Week 1! Whoa!
Source: #Giants open at #Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. (This is not a recording). Yes, again in Week 1.
— Ryan Dunleavy (@rydunleavy) April 17, 2019
The first Sunday Night Football game of the year will feature the reigning Super Bowl Champion Patriots (supposedly against the Pittsburgh Steelers) which means the classic Cowboys/Giants game will have to be in the afternoon. It’ll likely be America’s Game of the Week on FOX.
Dallas hosted the Giants on a Sunday afternoon game during the first contest of the Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott era three years ago. When Terrance Williams didn’t get out of bounds. Good times.
Cowboys won’t play the Patriots in primetime
The Dallas Cowboys will visit the New England Patriots this season, it’s a matchup that is sure to be one of the season’s biggest games from a ratings perspective. Whenever that game ultimately happens (still unknown), it looks like it won’t be in primetime.
New England has five primetime games:
— Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) April 17, 2019
- Sept 8 vs Pitt
-Oct 10 vs Giants (Thursday)
-Oct 21 at Jets (MNF)
-Nov. 3 at Baltimore
-Dec. 1 at Houston
There are those who will likely be shocked by this, but networks can protect games in certain instances. FOX will have this game as it’s a road game for the NFC team, and there’s no way they would likely let a Cowboys/Patriots matchup be called by anyone other than Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
This game has an October feel to it in my own personal opinion, and if that’s the case Joe Buck might not even be there (unless the Boston Red Sox are in the World Series). Time will tell.
Dallas will visit the Jets in Week 6
According to the New York Daily News the Dallas Cowboys will be visiting the New York Jets in Week 6. That’s one of four AFC East teams that they’ll be visiting this season, last time they were at the Jets was the 2011 season opener.
The Jets are a new-look team as they now have Le’Veon Bell on their roster. That will certainly make things interesting for the Cowboys during one of their two visits to MetLife Stadium in 2019. Giddy up.
Cowboys at New England in Week 12
It looks as if the much-anticipated matchup between America’s Team and the reigning World Champions will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
The Patriots’ stretch of marquee games continues with three 2018 playoff opponents in November:
— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) April 17, 2019
Week 9: @ Ravens (Sunday night)
Week 10: Bye
Week 11: @ Eagles, 4:25
Week 12: vs. Cowboys, 4:25
This will likely, although with him you never know, be the last time that the Cowboys visit New England in the Tom Brady era. Probably the Bill Belichick era, too. It’ll be epic.
Dallas to visit the Giants in Week 9... on MNF!
We’ve grown used to seeing the Cowboys and Giants play under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football, but that won’t be the case in 2019. They’ll host their divisional rivals in a Sunday afternoon game in Week 1 and according to NorthJersey.com they’ll visit them in Week 9... on Monday Night Football.
Of course the last time that the Cowboys and Giants squared off on MNF was almost a decade ago, October 25th, 2010. That was the night Tony Romo was lost for the season and just before Wade Phillips was fired. Let’s hope for something different than that.
Cowboys at the Saints in Week 4... on Sunday Night Football
One of the biggest games of last season for Dallas was their win at home against the New Orleans Saints. Thanks to winning the division they’ll play New Orleans again in 2019, this time on the road in the Big Easy. That game is apparently the final one of the first quarter of the season. It’s also on primetime.
So, looks like the Saints schedule shaping up like this so far from what I've gathered
— John Hendrix (@JohnJHendrix) April 17, 2019
Week 1: vs. Texans (MNF)
Week 2: at Rams
Week 4: vs. Cowboys (SNF)
Week 7: at Bears
Week 13: at Falcons (Thanksgiving)
Dec 16 vs. Colts (MNF)
The Sean Payton rumors will be swirling. You can bet on that.
Thursday Night Football after Thanksgiving against the Bears
Five years ago the Cowboys played the Eagles on Thanksgiving and seven days later visited the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. We know that they’ll play on Turkey Day obviously, and they will in fact visit the Windy City seven days later once again.
Here's a juicy matchup:
— Bill Zimmerman (@ZimmermanSXM) April 17, 2019
Thursday Night Football on Fox, December 5 (week 14):
Dallas #Cowboys at Chicago #Bears
It will be cold.
Dallas will visit Washington in Week 2
Similar to the home opener against the Giants on a Sunday afternoon, the Cowboys also went to Washington in Week 2 of Dak and Zeke’s rookie season. It looks like they could be doing that again.
Redskins home opener will be against the Cowboys in Week 2, per league source.

Hello Case Keenum.
It could be Miami in Week 3
There is one report that has the Cowboys hosting the Dolphins in Week 3. That would be something.
#Dolphins Schedule
— Matthew Cannata (@CannataPFN) April 17, 2019
Week 1 - BAL
Week 2 - NE
Week 3 - at DAL
Week 4 - LAC
Week 5 - BYE
Week 6 - WAS
Week 7 - at BUF
Week 8 - at PIT (MNF)
Week 9 - NYJ
Week 10 - at IND
Week 11 - BUF
Week 12 - at CLE
Week 13 - PHI
Week 14 - at NYJ
Week 15 - at NYG
Week 16 - CIN
Week 17 - at NE
This would be the first rookie head coach that the Cowboys would be facing in 2019, and if this is really true then the first three games for Dallas would be against Eli Manning, Case Keenum, and Ryan Fitzpatrick. That’s a huge three-game stretch to potentially pile up.
Buffalo on Thanksgiving?
Turkey Day is for nostalgia in some senses, and there could be a lot of it for the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. One report has the Buffalo Bills being their opponent.
BREAKING: According to sources close with the @WhySoSeriousPOD, the @buffalobills will take on the @dallascowboys on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas. The last time the Bills played on Thanksgiving was in 1994 @ Detroit. Please credit @WhySoSeriousPOD.

Imagine Cole Beasley returning home on Thanksgiving.
Here’s what the schedule could look like based off of what we know
- Week 1: New York Giants
- Week 2: at Washington Redskins
- Week 3: Miami Dolphins
- Week 4: at New Orleans Saints (Sunday Night Football)
- Week 6: at New York Jets
- Week 9: at New York Giants (Monday Night Football)
- Week 12: at New England Patriots (Sunday before Thanksgiving)
- Week 13: Buffalo Bills
- Week 14: at Chicago Bears (Thursday Night Football)
(We’ll continue to update this post as more rumors emerge throughout the day, last updated at 5:45pm ET).
