Cowboys fans agree... safety is the team’s top need entering the 2019 NFL Draft

The real question is... do the Cowboys?

We’re just a few sleeps away from the Dallas Cowboys acquiring some new talent by way of the 2019 NFL Draft. It’s a day that many have been looking forward to for the entire offseason.

Unfortunately 57 picks will have to go by before we’re finally able to crown a new member of America’s Team (barring a fun trade of course), but when it happens it’s sure to be something special.

There are a lot of directions that the Cowboys can go with their first pick in the draft, and not one of them is the right one. The team has needs at safety, defensive tackle, tight end, running back, and a few other spots, so much of where they go when they’re on the clock will be dictated by what’s happened so far to that point.

In an effort to gather the collective thoughts of Cowboys Nation we used SB Nation’s FanPulse tool to calculate exactly what everyone was thinking. When it comes to the position that people feel the Cowboys need the most, there was one glaring winner.

Safety

Stephen Jones is on the record in saying that the team has devoted the fewest amount of resources to safety. As of now they have Xavier Woods (promising), Jeff Heath (the GOAT, but also... kind of not), Kavon Frazier (a nice piece of depth), and the recently signed George Iloka (decent veteran). There needs to be more and come Friday night that more could finally be had.

Do you agree that safety is the position that the Cowboys need to address? Again, given the fact that a player falling can alter things significantly it’s fair to say that this is the move that most of us would have them make.

So... safety or nah?
