There is a whole lot of discussion going on about Mike Weber’s knee

Some confusion about the newest Cowboys running back.

Over the weekend the Dallas Cowboys held their rookie minicamp. This was the first time that they got to work with their new toys and see what they were made of.

One of the more interesting picks that the team made recently was running back Mike Weber out of The Ohio State University. There’s was word coming out about the status of Weber’s knee that has people a bit concerned, an MRI was necessary, but it seems like everything is going to be alright.

In fact, things look to be so alright with Weber that the world is starting to talk about it. From the MMQB’s Albert Breer:

The Cowboys dodged a bullet with seventh-round RB Mike Weber, who tweaked his knee on the first day of rookie camp and required an MRI. Weber, who actually practiced on Sunday, has also has more of a shot at making an impact than most players drafted in the seventh round. The Cowboys are gearing up to have fourth-round pick Tony Pollard complement Zeke Elliott, but the battle for the third spot on the depth chart is wide open. Weber is a more traditional tailback than Pollard (more of a slash-type player), which gives him the chance to add some value to the roster depth-wise.

How the Cowboys are planning on using Tony Pollard and Mike Weber is a separate thing in and of itself, but thankfully it seems like everything is all good with the latter. Hearing that he practiced despite worries like this is good news, but there is a conflicting report.

Mike Fisher from 105.3 The Fan reported shortly after Breer’s notes came out that Mike Weber actually did not practice on Sunday. To be clear, we’re talking about a rookie minicamp in May so the state of the season isn’t exactly on the line, but it’s nevertheless interesting to hear conflicting reports.

The Dallas Cowboys have some results back on the MRI given to Mike Weber ... and the results are so-far good. Nevertheless, the team is continuing to evaluate, I’m told, and the Sports Illustrated story that insists the rookie running back “actually practiced on Sunday’’ is incorrect.

Thankfully the important thing (Mike Weber’s health) seems to be agreed upon by everyone, but the status of Weber practicing is apparently up in the air. Perhaps this is an issue of a tiny detail, but for now this is what we have.

We’ll keep you updated if more clarification comes out.
