Dak Prescott pretty much owns the NFC East

You might be surprised how successful Dak Prescott has been against the NFC East.

Dak Prescott has won five of the six games he has played against the Washington Redskins. The only loss came in last year’s game in Washington which the Cowboys lost by three points. With three seconds remaining in the game, the Cowboys lined up to attempt a potential 47-yard game-tying kick, but long snapper L.P. LaDouceur was inexplicably flagged for a false start. The five-yard penalty made it a 52-yard attempt, resulting in kicker Brett Maher hitting the left upright as time expired.

The Eagles’ record against Dak Prescott is similarly lopsided: Dak Prescott won four of the six games he’s played against Philly. Of the two losses, one came in a 37-9 loss in 2017 in Philly, the other in the Week 17 season finale in 2016, when Prescott had just eight pass attempts on 15 snaps before making way for Mark Sanchez, and then Tony Romo. Prescott left the game with the score tied at 3-3 early in the second quarter, and the Cowboys went on to lose 27-13, but because Prescott was the starter, the loss goes against his record.

The Giants somehow managed to win two games against Prescott in six games, with both wins coming in Prescott’s rookie season. Since then, the Saquon Barkley-enabled (at least in 2018) but Eli Manning-disabled (permanently) Giants have lost four straight against Prescott.

How do the other NFC East QBs stack up in intra-division matchups? Here’s an overview:

QB Record vs NFC East
W L Win %
Dak Prescott 13 5 0.722
Carson Wentz 9 6 0.600
Eli Manning 42 46 0.477
Kirk Cousins (2013-2017) & Alex Smith (2018) 11 14 0.440

If you want to win the NFC East, you’d better make sure you beat the other NFC East teams first. And Dak Prescott is doing just that.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
