Jason Garrett expects Ezekiel Elliott to show up for training camp and doesn’t anticipate a holdout

Coach Garrett gives his thoughts on Ezekiel Elliott.

We’ll find out soon whether or not Ezekiel Elliott is going to show up for Dallas Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, but the general consensus seems to be that he’ll be there. We hope.

Ultimately, nobody except for Elliott himself knows what will come on Thursday, but if the opinion of Jason Garrett matters to you (there are definitely people who it doesn’t matter for) then you’ve come to the right place. Garrett believes that Elliott will be there.

Garrett is also apparently of the belief that there won’t be any holdout from Zeke, although this is somewhat redundant considering that if the running back is there that he’s obviously not holding out. It sounds nice, though.

It’s possible that all of this talk about holding out could have been strategy for Elliott’s camp in order to use the threat of it as leverage for a new deal. That’s just the business of football (the business of everything, really).

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported earlier this week that talks of Elliott holding out over this offseason haven’t been limited to just training camp. Apparently there was chatter that he might not show up to spring activities, but considering that he did maybe that’s exactly what’s going to happen with training camp.

Speaking of NFL Network, their own Jane Slater also believes that Elliott will be on the plane to Oxnard. It’s starting to feel real.

Time will tell.
