In many ways the 2019 season officially began for the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday afternoon as they boarded a plane for Oxnard, California. This is where the Cowboys conduct training camp and therefore a place of utmost significance.
The day itself was also significant for the team and specifically its star running back, Ezekiel Elliott. There have been various reports that Zeke could hold out for the beginning of camp in an effort to expedite a contract extension that he desires. If he had been on the team’s charter flight to California that would have obviously shown that he had no intention of holding out; however, there was no Ezekiel Elliott on said flight.
It’s official. My sources tell me Ezekiel Elliott is not on the flight to LA. Again, he has until Friday am to show up at camp though. Players have chosen to fly on their own in the past #Cowboys #TrainingCamp

As NFL Network’s Jane Slater points out... this is hardly the end of this discussion. Players have reported to Oxnard by themselves in the past (Taco Charlton was in California on Wednesday for example) and Elliott could just be handling getting to training camp on his own.
It’s also been well-documented that August 6th could prove to be a pivotal day for Elliott if he wants to gain an accrued season in 2019. That would obviously be very beneficial for him if he eventually wants to hit free agency, but we’re still a long way away from that.
With no Ezekiel Elliott on the team’s charter flight we now shift our focus to Friday morning to see if he is with his teammates in Oxnard. It’s time to hurry up and wait some more.
