The Dallas Cowboys are in Oxnard, California (a wonderful time of year), but they are without one of their best players. Ezekiel Elliott remains away during the team’s first full day on the west coast.
Zeke still technically isn’t “holding out” as the parameters for that are loosely defined on a team-by-team basis. If Elliott were to show up late on Friday the team may consider that as arriving on time, but whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
One important moment has already come and gone, though. The Cowboys went through their conditioning test on the field out in Oxnard on Friday morning, and according to NFL Network’s Jane Slater... Elliott was absent for it.
.@SlaterNFL on NFL Network: I will tell you in talking to my team sources the players went through their physicals and their conditioning run this morning and Ezekiel Elliott was not on site for that.

This could just be about Elliott still being on his way to California and not having arrived to camp itself, or obviously this could be the next box to check off on what he is actually going to do in terms of holding out. We simply do not know at this point.
What do know is that we’re inching closer and closer to a time where Elliott will be considered holding out. It looks like he may be, but until we know we truly can’t say.
How are you feeling?
