Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones has been absent from training camp so far due to hip surgery that he underwent over the offseason. The PUP life is never a fun one.
While we don’t know exactly when Jones is going to return there are certainly a lot of people speculating about it. During the Dallas Cowboys pregame show on 105.3 The Fan ahead of their preseason contest against the Los Angeles Rams in Hawaii, the voice of the Cowboys, Brad Sham, noted that the cornerback isn’t necessarily a lock for Week 1.
Just now @Boys_Vox on @1053thefan: "I don't know if they can count on Byron Jones being healthy for week 1."

To be without Jones in the season opener wouldn’t be the most devastating thing when you really think about it. The Cowboys open against the New York Giants so they will draw Eli Manning who doesn’t exactly inspire fear these days. Additionally, Giants receiver Sterling Shepard has had injury concerns through camp so far and Golden Tate will miss the game due to suspension.
You never want to see your star cornerback miss a game, but if Jones has to, this is arguably the best one for it. There are still a few weeks between now and then so we’ll have to wait and see, but keep your eyes on this moving forward.
