This is the final weekend before the regular season begins which means that NFL teams are in the final process of roster configuration. You can stay up to date with the Cowboys 53-man roster cuts right here.
Of course, one of the best players on the Cowboys has yet to be seen this training camp or preseason period as he’s holding out for a contract extension. The Ezekiel Elliott saga has consumed the better part of the last couple of months for the Cowboys.
All of that looks like it could be over very soon, though. ESPN reported on Saturday that talks between the Cowboys and Elliott are “intensifying” and that both sides are looking to have a new deal done this weekend.
Here's the news Dallas has wanted: Talks between the Cowboys and RB Ezekiel Elliott are intensifying, with both sides aiming to wrap up a new deal this weekend, league sources tell ESPN.

This is extremely significant news for the Cowboys as their regular season begins eight days from now. Zeke is the NFL’s reigning rushing champion and there’s no question that the team is much better with him on the field.
There has been a lot of back and forth posturing between Elliott’s camp and the Cowboys front office over the last few weeks, but that’s often how negotiations go in the NFL. With Elliott back in the fold the Cowboys will be able to resume their priorities for the season... doing what they can to get back to the Super Bowl.
It looks like an Ezekiel Elliott deal is imminent. Prepare yourselves.
