Earlier this week it was reported that the Dallas Cowboys were shopping Taco Charlton to an undisclosed team. It’s not surprising given the low level of production from the 2017 first-round pick.
It’s certainly unfortunate how the Cowboys have not been able to find success with someone they took in the first round just two years ago, but that’s what happens in the NFL sometimes. The Dallas front office has had exceptional success outside of Charlton so they’ve earned a bit of a pass. You can’t hit on them all, as they say.
While all of these talks are happening, Charlton is putting some messages out himself. According to NFL Network, he has officially requested a trade from the Cowboys. What’s more is that he originally did so during the offseason.
One more layer here...Sources tell me Taco Charlton made it clear in the offseason he wanted a trade. I’m told he was part of discussions ahead of preseason cuts but nothing came of it. What is clear is both sides want a fresh start. #Cowboys https://t.co/B2LMMididB

With the Miami Dolphins seemingly allowing Minkah Fitzpatrick to seek a trade there are a lot of Cowboys fans who want to see some sort of trade there with Taco Charlton as a piece to move to South Beach. It’s hard to know how likely that is.
Taco will obviously be inactive today as the Cowboys look to keep him healthy as a potential piece to flip. It’s important to acknowledge when you’ve made a mistake, and it seems like Dallas is doing that here.
