2019 is literally the most productive two-game offense in the Dak Prescott/Ezekiel Elliott era

Dallas is operating at its absolute best.

The Dallas Cowboys offense has been humming through two games in 2019, and the team’s 2-0 record is plenty proof of that.

Obviously it feels like the Cowboys offense is dominating, but just how much is it in terms of recent history? I mean, is this really good or were we just used to really bad?

The rumors are true, world. The Dallas Cowboys are really good on offense and there are a few pieces of evidence that prove that point.

Dallas scored 30 points in back to back games

This one is hardly the most impressive feat, but we’re warming up so allow me to get you hyped. Consider this the first few “a little bit louder now” chants in our group dance to “Shout”.

It’s no secret that the Cowboys offense wasn’t up to par last season, that’s why the team moved on from offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. It’s amazing when you think that that team still won 10 games, scoring points makes everything so much easier.

When was the last time that the Cowboys scored at least 30 points in two straight games? The answer is known, but it travels back a bit in time. It had been over a season since this happened for Dallas as they scored over 30 in Weeks 13 and 14 of the 2017 season, coincidentally also against the New York Giants and Washington Redskins.

Dak Prescott is ON FIRE through two games compared to previous years

We’re already in year four of the Dak Prescott era, and my oh my, what a year it is for number four so far. Dak has thrown seven touchdowns through two games this season and what do you know, that is a significantly larger amount than what he’s had through two games in years past.

Dak Prescott passing touchdowns through a season’s first two games

  • 2016: 0
  • 2017: 3
  • 2018: 1
  • 2019: 7

Prescott literally has more touchdowns through this season’s first two games than he does in all of his previous season’s first two games combined. That’s insane. Dallas has been committed to the passing game which is a revolution many are welcoming with open arms (much like the Cowboys receivers).

This is the most yardage through two games EVER in the Dak and Zeke era

As 2019 is the fourth year of the Dak Prescott experience it is also the fourth year in the Ezekiel Elliott era. We’ve been treated to plenty of good times, wins, and fun experiences over the last three years, but we’ve just seen something that we never have before.

Dallas had 494 total yards against the Giants and 474 total yards in Washington. Some quick math will tell you that they have 968 total yards through two games. So what though, right?

968 total yards isn’t just the most that the Cowboys have ever had in a season’s first two games since drafting Prescott and Elliott, it’s the most that they’ve ever had through any two games in the Prescott/Elliott era. This is literally the most potent offense in two consecutive cutivegames that the Cowboys have ever had since 2016. That’s saying something.

It was during that 2016 season that Dallas had eight straight games with 400+ total yards, a feat that had only been accomplished by the 2007 New England Patriots and 2013 Denver Broncos. It appears as if the Cowboys are going to top 400 more often than not this season (100% so far) which is very good news for all of us.
