It feels like football season just started yet somehow we find ourselves two weeks through the regular season. Time flies when you’re having fun, friends.
The Dallas Cowboys will be playing at home in Week 3 (wearing their color rush jerseys, mind you) and they’ll be hosting the Miami Dolphins. Considering they’ve been outscored 102 to 10 in their two games this season, it’s safe to say that a lot of people expect Miami to lose to Dallas.
So much of how the Dolphins perform though will depend on who their quarterback is. They have Ryan Fitzpatrick on their roster and have started him both of the games that they’ve previously played, but second-year quarterback Josh Rosen is an option as well. In spite of that, it was reported on Monday that Miami will be sticking with Fitzpatrick.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has plenty of experience at AT&T Stadium
Fitzpatrick has played for a lot of teams in the NFL and on Sunday he will take his fourth one into AT&T Stadium. Every game that he’s played against the Cowboys has come inside of Jerry’s World, the most recent coming during a Saturday night contest while a member of the New York Jets in 2015.
Interestingly enough it was during that Jets game that the Cowboys benched quarterback Matt Cassel (this was the year Tony Romo was hurt) in an effort to see what their promising young guy had. That guy? Kellen Moore, and he’s currently the Cowboys offensive coordinator. You know, the one torching NFL defenses week in and week out.
Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Dallas Cowboys
Miami is doing everything they can, except literally vocalizing it, to tank throughout the 2019 season. With quarterbacks like Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Oregon’s Justin Herbert headlining the 2020 NFL Draft class there is a line of thought that it makes more sense for the Dolphins to focus on their future. In the meantime though they have to play a season and it hasn’t gone well for them two games in. They’ve been beat handily in the season’s first two weeks.
Just how favored are the Cowboys as the wheels of Week 3 get going in motion? According to our friends at BetOnline the Dallas Cowboys are 20.5-point favorites over the Miami Dolphins. Yes. Really.
Dallas has covered in both of their games this season but it will take quite the performance for them to do so again in Week 3. Nobody is doubting a Dallas victory, but a 20.5-point line in any game is intimidating.
