It’s Friday of game week, so that means we get the final press conference before the Cowboys face the Saints on Sunday night. Let’s see what Jason Garrett had to say. (All answers are paraphrased and not actual quotes).
Zack Martin’s status and other injury updates.
Zack Martin did not practice on Thursday and Jason Garrett noted this is because he didn’t finish practice on Wednesday. He did say that they anticipate Martin practicing on Friday.
Amari Cooper seemed fine in practice according to coach. Kavon Frazier had been dealing with an Achilles injury and they don’t anticipate him practicing today. Antwaun Woods and Tyrone Crawford are not expected to do much of anything today. Tavon Austin has had a couple of good days according to Garrett and is looking more like his old self.
Depth with Xavier Su’a-Filo
The Cowboys do have a viable backup guard in XSF if they do need to smash the glass in the event of an emergency and Jason Garrett acknowledged that this is a valuable asset to have. Noted that XSF did an outstanding job last year and played at a high level.
Crowd noise
The Superdome is one of the loudest venues in the NFL and the Cowboys know how to prepare for those. They generally prepare with crowd noise but Jason Garrett said that they always prepare for crowd noise even back at training camp.
Relationship between Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper
Jason Garrett noted that this is one of Dak’s strength creating relationships with other players, especially his pass-catchers. Prescott has always been highly regarded in the leadership department and Jason Garrett discussed this being one of his biggest strengths.
The effort of Randall Cobb on the interceptions last week
Coach discussed the effort Cobb put in after the interception last week, the way he stayed in the play and chased down the defender and actually caused a fumble that went out of bounds. He said it was a featured play of the week in their meetings and is representative of jut the kind of player Cobb is.
The Cowboys have liked Randall Cobb for a long time
Jason Garrett talked about how much the Cowboys liked Randall Cobb coming out of school. They’re huge fans of who he is as a player and as a person. Cobb really fits the right kind of guy mold that Garrett has instilled in Dallas.
