Taco Charlton posted a tweet that might mean he’s inactive on Sunday against the Giants

Is Taco going to play?

We’re about 24 hours away from the Dallas Cowboys kicking their season off at home against the New York Giants and there are still some things to figure out between now and then.

Of course, we’ll have to see if the Cowboys are able to negotiate long-term deals with Dak Prescott or Amari Cooper, but something else that has to be determined is which 46 players are going to be active tomorrow afternoon. We won’t know until shortly before kickoff, but we might have a clue as of now.

On Saturday morning, Taco Charlton had a bit of a cryptic tweet. There’s a photo of Eli Manning and he says “Maybe next time Eli. I guess I’ll have to wait for that for now.”.

This seems to carry an implication that Charlton won’t have the opportunity to sack Manning, which he’s doing in the photo that he tweeted. The fact that he says “maybe next time” seems to be a reference to the fact that Dallas will see the Giants again this season as they are division rivals, but it’s curious to say the least.

Charlton did not appear on the team’s final injury report so if he does not play he would be a healthy scratch. It wouldn’t be the first time that Taco was a healthy inactive as the Cowboys made him one last season amidst talks of an “attitude adjustment.” For what it’s worth Mike Fisher from 105.3 The Fan and Cowboys Maven did indeed report that Taco is going to be out for Sunday’s contest.

“Yes,” Charlton tells me moments after a provocative Saturday morning tweet. “I’m down for tomorrow’s game.”

Dallas will already be without Robert Quinn against the Giants so going without Charlton would be an interesting move considering the third-year defensive end has looked good throughout the preseason. We’ll have to wait and see how this all unfolds.
