The Turk May Have Come For Witten

It's what McCarthy is not saying above. "Witten is still a force & we look forward to getting him the ball next season" - something validating like that. The options mentioned may be: retire or shop himself to other teams.

If you are McC and you thought Witten still had a few miles left on his tires, you still might be moving on since he is a prominent remaining face of the Garrett era. You are starting new, so start new. Good way to communicate that to your team. It's all new, earn your spot.

It's at least 1 new TE for 2020 on the team if the above is right. I'm not exhausting my cap or mortgaging my future in a trade or FA, or spending my 17th overall on it. But I draft the first value pick TE that falls to me. I'm relying on Schultz here to make a mark in camp, but I feel pretty good on that.

Jarwin is going to be your starter as it stands now, you press him to add a little bulk & work hard on his blocking this offseason - but this offense may be using the 2 TE power sets less anyway. Jarwin in the spread while defenses have to worry about your big 3 WR's, that's a lot of easy yards for Dak.
