Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper doesn’t want to rush his new contract

Cooper loves Dallas but is super casual about contract negotiations.

The Dallas Cowboys have ignored all of the bills that came in the mail and they are now at a point where serious payments need to be made. It’s the one negative side to having a lot of great players on your team.

Last offseason the Cowboys struck new deals with DeMarcus Lawrence, Ezekiel Elliott, Jaylon Smith, and La’el Collins, but perhaps the team’s most potent offensive attack needs to be signed in the combination of Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper. Those are pretty big deals.

These deals are so big that Stephen Jones recently referred to Prescott and Cooper as the team’s number one and two priorities, respectively, this offseason. We are going to hear a lot about them and their contractual status over the next few weeks.

Amari Cooper is currently at the Pro Bowl (he doesn’t look too excited to be there) and NFL Network’s Jane Slater caught up with him. Of course the subject of his contract came up and Cooper said that he hasn’t really discussed it with his agent and that he wants to take his time.

Cooper has always been a different sort of dude, he doesn’t fit the mold of a stereotypical number one wide receiver. Him wanting to take his time isn’t exactly a surprise and given the fact that the Super Bowl hasn’t even happened it sort of makes sense that he would want to chill.

Of course, the sooner that the Cowboys take care of business the better. With the Prescott and Cooper situations hanging over their heads. it could hold up any other outside business that they might want to do. Ttime is of the essence.
