The Dallas Cowboys saw their season end eight days ago and ever since then things have been confusing to say the least.
On Sunday evening, during the final Wildcard game of the weekend, the Cowboys finally made official what was inevitable for so long. They parted ways with Jason Garrett which meant that they were officially looking for a new head coach.
Not even 24 hours later, barely even 12 hours later, that search is over according to FOX’s Jay Glazer. The Dallas Cowboys are hiring Mike McCarthy to be their new head coach.
Scoopage alert: the @dallascowboys have agreed to terms with Mike McCarthy to be their new head coach. Announcement and press conference expected later this week @NFLonFOX #cowboys

Mike McCarthy was the longtime head coach of the Green Bay Packers and was fired by that team before the 2018 season finished. During his time there he went to four NFC Championship Games and won Super Bowl XLV (a game played at what was then Cowboys Stadium and is now AT&T Stadium).
McCarthy’s record is excellent to say the least. He has presided over an incredible number of victories while leading one of the NFL’s cornerstone franchises, a task he’ll be charged with as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Word regarding the Cowboys coaching search centered around one thing seemingly - experience. Jerry Jones and Co. clearly feel that they have a talented roster that is capable of doing serious things and they wanted somebody that could elevate them to the next level. They seem to believe that McCarthy is that person.
While there is understandably concern over McCarthy given that he was fired by the Packers in 2018, he took the 2019 season off and worked on his craft in a different way. He has embraced the usage of analytics which is something that people are anxious to see.
Mike McCarthy is reportedly the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
