While the Dallas Cowboys have yet to officially announce it themselves, Mike McCarthy is going to be the team’s next head coach according to just about every outlet in the universe.
Dallas moves on to McCarthy having had Jason Garrett coach the team for nine years and change, that’s an awfully long commitment to make to the man in charge. The Cowboys appear ready to love again as, per ESPN’s Todd Archer, they are reportedly giving him a five-year deal.
Mike McCarthy’s contract with the Dallas Cowboys will be for five years, according to a source. Jason Garrett’s last deal was for five years, $30 million. McCarthy was making more than that per year on his final contract with the Green Bay Packers.
That means that McCarthy’s deal would run through the 2024 season. It’s possible that at the culmination of it the Cowboys would have won the last five Super Bowls in a row, but, of course, there are other possible outcomes.
