BTB Honor Roll: Your name up in the bright lights!

Every six months or so, dating all the way back to 2011, we like to jointly look at some key user stats here on BTB.

Usually we look at the first six months sometime in July, and then look at the stats for the entire previous year early in January. Well, it’s early January, so here’s where we look at the stats for the last year, except instead of doing a full-year summary, I’ll only look at the lest six months of the year. You can check out the data for the first six months by following this link.

You know the drill, here is BTB By The Numbers for 2019:

As you can see, the activity here at BTB picked up considerably in the second half of the year, which is no real surprise given that’s when actual football gets played. To put those numbers into context, here’s what those second-half numbers mean on a per-day basis:

• 1,891 total front page posts averages out to a little more than 10 posts per day. That’s some heavy lifting by the 12 writers who’ve contributed to the blog in the second half. Heck, I remember back in the day when we were pleased when we managed to double our average output to two posts per day!
• 356 FanPosts means our members knocked out two FanPosts per day in the second half of the year.
• 234,060 comments translate to almost 1,300 comments per day.

Most Prolific Commenters

Nothing illustrates the fickle nature of sports blogging more than this ever-changing list: The members marked in green above did not make the Top 90 six months ago. Conversely, the members listed below dropped out of the Top 90 list over the last six months, for varying reasons:

But regardless of whether you made the Top 90 list, dropped out of it, or didn’t make it at all, different people contribute in different ways to our little community here, so thank you all for your contribution.

Like many other social media sites, BTB also has a way of “liking” posts or comments. In our little corner of the universe, the likes are called “recs”, short for “recommendations”, and BTB members can rec comments they particularly like. Four recs and your comment turns blue on BTB.

Here are the 60 members who received the most recs for their comments in the second half of 2019, with 100 comments needed to qualify for this ranking:

The table below lists the 16 top contributors in the FanPost section. The tables are sorted by number of FanPosts from Jul-Dec 2019, by the number of recommendations, and by the number of comments generated by the FanPost and the ensuing discussion.

179 different BTB-members made at least one of the tables above, but many, many more contributed to the blog so far this year.
