Looking in on the enemy: How did the remaining Cowboys opponents fare in Week 5?

Let’s check in and see how some of the Cowboys future opponents did over the weekend.

The Dallas Cowboys pulled out the victory on Sunday to improve to 2-3, which is good enough for first place in the NFC East. However, the team will now have to navigate through the 2020 season without their star quarterback Dak Prescott. Let’s take a look at what lies ahead on the schedule as we examine how the Cowboys future opponents performed in Week 5.

Week 6: Arizona Cardinals

Last week: Beat the Jets 30-10, currently 3-2

Key game notes:

  • Kyler Murray went 27/37 for 380 yards, with one touchdown and one interception
  • Kenyan Drake led all rushers with 60 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown
  • Chase Edmonds added 92 scrimmage yards and a score
  • DeAndre Hopkins caught six passes for 131 and a touchdown
  • Christian Kirk had five catches for 78 yards

Week 7: @ Washington Football Team

Last week: Lost 30-10 to the Rams, currently 1-4

Key game notes:

  • Alex Smith came in for an injured Kyle Allen and was 9/17 for just 37 yards
  • Antonio Gibson rushed 11 times for just 27 yards
  • Running back J.D. McKissic was the team’s leading receiver with six catches for 46 yards
  • Terry McLaurin only had three catches for 26 yards

Week 8: @ Philadelphia Eagles

Last week: Lost to the Steelers 38-29, currently 1-3-1

Key game notes:

  • Carson Wentz was 20/35 for 258 yards with two touchdowns and two picks
  • Wentz was sacked five times
  • Miles Sanders had 11 carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns
  • Travis Fulgham caught 10 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown

Week 9: Pittsburgh Steelers

Last week: Beat the Eagles 38-29, currently 4-0

Key game notes:

  • Ben Roethlisberger was 27/34 for 239 yards and three touchdowns
  • James Conner led all rushers with 44 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown
  • Chase Claypool caught seven passes for 110 yards, and three touchdowns
  • Claypool also had a rushing touchdown on a jet sweep
  • The Steelers defense had five sacks on the day

Week 11: @ Minnesota Vikings

Last week: Lost to the Seahawks 27-26 on a thrilling Sunday night game, currently 1-4

Key game notes:

  • Kirk Cousins was 27/39 for 249 yards with two touchdowns and one interception
  • Dalvin Cook had 17 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a groin injury
  • Alexander Mattison came in and ran for 112 yards on 20 carries
  • Adam Thielen had nine catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns

Week 12: Washington Football Team

Week 13: @ Baltimore Ravens

Last week: Routed the Bengals 27-3, currently 4-1

  • Lamar Jackson was 19/31 for 180 with two touchdowns and one interception
  • Mark Ingram rushed for 57 yards on 11 carries
  • Marquise Brown had six catches for 71 yards and a touchdown
  • Mark Andrews had six catches for 56 yards and a touchdown
  • The Ravens defense had seven sacks on the day

Week 14: @ Cincinnati Bengals

Last week: Lost to the Ravens 27-3, currently 1-3-1

Key game notes:

  • Joe Burrow was 19/30 with no touchdowns and a pick
  • Burrow was sacked seven times
  • Joe Mixon rushed for 59 yards on 24 carries
  • Tee Higgins had four catches for 62 yards

Week 15: San Francisco 49ers

Last week: Got smoked by the Dolphins 43-17, currently 2-3

Key game notes:

  • Jimmy Garropolo was 7/17 for just 77 yards with no touchdowns and two picks
  • Raheem Mostert had 11 carries for 90 yards
  • George Kittle caught four passes for 44 yards
  • The 49ers QB’s were sacked five times

  • Daniel Jones was 20/35 for 222 yards and no touchdowns
  • This is the fourth straight game Jones has gone without throwing a touchdown pass
  • Devonta Freeman rushed 17 times for 60 yards and a touchdown
  • Darius Slayton caught eight passes for 129 yards
