Looking in on the enemy: How did the remaining Cowboys opponents fare in Week 3?

How did some future opponents of the Cowboys do this past weekend?

Three weeks of the 2020 season has come and gone, and the Dallas Cowboys are off to a 1-2 start. They hung with the Seattle Seahawks for a while on Sunday before giving up a go-ahead touchdown in the closing two minutes of the game. While it’s a rough start, they’re still sitting in decent shape as there is plenty of football to be played.

Speaking of that football, as we think about what lies ahead, let’s check in and see how some of the Cowboys future opponents did in Week 3.

Week 4: Cleveland Browns

Last week: Beat Washington 34-20, currently 2-1

Key game notes:

  • Baker Mayfield was 16/23 for 156 yards with two touchdowns
  • Nick Chubb had 19 carries for 108 yards and two touchdowns
  • Kareem Hunt added 46 yards on 16 carries, and 18 yards receiving, including a touchdown
  • Odell Beckham Jr. had four catches for 59 yards
  • Myles Garrett had two sacks in the game

Week 5: New York Giants

Last week: Got smoked 36-9 by the San Francisco 49ers, currently 0-3

Key game notes:

  • Daniel Jones was 17/32 for 179 yards with no touchdowns and one interception
  • The Giants running backs of Devonta Freeman, Wayne Gallman, and Dion Lewis all combined for 17 yards on 10 carries
  • Darius Slayton led all receivers with three catches for 53 yards
  • Julian Love led all defenders with 11 tackles

Week 6: Arizona Cardinals

Last week: Lost 26-23 to the Lions, currently at 2-1

Key game notes:

  • Kyler Murray went 23/35 in passing for 270 yards with two touchdowns and three picks
  • Kenyan Drake had 18 carries for 73 yards
  • DeAndre Hopkins caught 10 passes for 137 yards
  • Andy Isabella added four catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns
  • The Cardinals defense sacked Matthew Stafford four times

Week 7: @ Washington Football Team

Last week: Lost 34-20 to the Browns, currently 1-2

Key game notes:

  • Dwayne Haskins finished 21/37 for 224 yards with two touchdowns and three picks
  • Antonio Gibson led the team in rushing with 49 yards on nine carries
  • Leading receiver Terry McLaurin had four catches for 83 yards
  • Jonathan Allen led the team with nine tackles and also had a sack

Week 8: @ Philadelphia Eagles

Last week: Finished in a tie against the AFC powerhouse Bengals, remain winless at 0-2-1

Key game notes:

  • Carson Wentz was 29/47 for 225 yards with one touchdown and two picks
  • Wentz added 65 yards rushing, including a seven-yard touchdown run
  • Miles Sanders led the ground attack with 18 carries for 95 yards
  • Greg Ward was the team’s leading receiver with eight catches for 72 yards and a touchdown

Week 9: Pittsburgh Steelers

Last week: Beat the Texans 28-21, currently 3-0

Key game notes:

  • Ben Roethlisberger was 23/36 for 237 yards with two touchdowns
  • James Connor rushed the ball 18 times for 109 yards and one touchdown
  • Tight Eric Ebron led all receivers with five catches for 52 yards and a touchdown
  • The Steelers defense had five sacks, including 1.5 by Bud Dupree

Week 10:

Week 11: @ Minnesota Vikings

Last week: Lost 31-30 to the Titans, currently 0-3

Key game notes:

  • Kirk Cousins was 16/27 for 251 yards for three touchdown and two picks
  • Dalvin Cook had 22 carries for 181 yards, including a touchdown
  • Rookie Justin Jefferson led receivers with seven catches for 175 yards and a touchdown
  • Linebacker Erik Kendricks led the team in tackles with 10

Week 12: Washington Football Team

Week 13: @ Baltimore Ravens

Last week: Lost to the Chiefs 34-20 on Monday night, currently 2-1

  • Lamar Jackson struggled going 15/28 with just 87 yards and one touchdown
  • Jackson led his team in rushing with 83 yards
  • Running back J.K. Dobbins led all receivers with four catches for just 38 yards
  • Chuck Clark had 10 tackles

Week 14: @ Cincinnati Bengals

Last week: Tied the Eagles 23-23, currently 0-2-1

Key game notes:

  • Joe Burrow was 31/44 for 312 yards with two touchdowns
  • Joe Mixon ran for 49 yards on 17 carries
  • Tyler Boyd caught 10 passes for 125 yards
  • Carl Lawson finished the game with eight tackles and two sacks

Week 15: San Francisco 49ers

Last week: Beat the Giants 36-9, currently 2-1

Key game notes:

  • Backup quarterback Nick Mullens was 25/36 for 343 yards and a touchdown
  • Jerick McKinnon led all running backs with 14 carries for just 38 yards
  • Rookie Brandon Aiyuk led the team in receiving with five catches for 70 yards
  • Former Cowboys defensive lineman Kerry Hyder had a sack
