No one really envisioned the Dallas Cowboys being in a must-win situation after only four games of the 2020 regular season. This isn’t even a must-win situation in the standings given how historically bad the NFC East is this year. The Cowboys could lose and still be in the race for the division crown.
Instead, this is a must-win for the Cowboys psyche as a team. If they lose at home to the winless New York Giants, everything might just fall apart. Questions about the competency of the coaching staff will explode even more than what is already being asked now. Players may begin to lose all confidence and internal sniping could begin. It will be uglier than it already is at The Star.
But, if the Cowboys can win, and win looking good, it could be the road to recovery they need. If the offense stops turning the ball over, if the defense puts up even a mediocre effort, and the Cowboys dominate - that would be huge for the team.
It may not be a must-win in the standings, but in every other way, it surely is for the Cowboys.
