The Dallas Cowboys season is halfway over, and it is hard to imagine that the second half won’t be at least as disappointing as the first.
Injuries have ravaged America’s Team and snatched away from them what was thought could be a year where the team would challenge for a sixth Super Bowl. The time between now and 2021 will mostly be spent wondering what a top draft pick can be utilized on in an effort to one day capturing Lombardi number six.
There are two teams that already do have that many world titles though and one of them will be the visitors at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Pittsburgh Steelers are rolling into town as the league’s only undefeated team left standing and it is hard to imagine that they will suffer their first loss of the season in Arlington.
We know that Andy Dalton will not be playing for the Cowboys as he was placed on the Reserve/Covid-19 list on Tuesday, but there is still some uncertainty as to whether Ben DiNucci, recent signee Garrett Gilbert, or recent returnee Cooper Rush will start at quarterback for Dallas. Frankly, there is a lot that remains to be seen between now and then. Ben Roethlisberger’s offense has hardly operated at an elite level, but Pittsburgh’s defense is among the top groups throughout the NFL. Having success against them will be challenging to say the least.
