[UPDATE] We have the official report now:
The only change is that linebacker Joe Thomas has been added to the report as questionable.
Since the Cowboys don’t run a normal practice on Friday, they only estimate their game designations. So it’s likely that Ezekiel Elliott and Aldon Smith will be on the list, with punter Chris Jones, who is already been designated as out. As of this point, we don’t have the official designations, but expect Elliott and Smith to be questionable. We’ll update if that is incorrect.
The Dallas Cowboys aren’t sure what the status of star running back Ezekiel Elliott will be on Sunday. Earlier in the week when he was limited in practice with a hamstring, coach Mike McCarthy made it appear as if it was all just precautionary and the Zeke would be fine. In today’s press conference, he was much more circumspect after letting the media know that Zeke did not participate as much on Thursday as they had anticipated. He further went on to say that they will basically have to see how he does on Saturday and in warm-ups on Sunday.
Still, Jerry Jones seems to think he will play.
Jerry Jones said on @1053thefan that he expects Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) and Aldon Smith (knee) to play Sunday against the Steelers— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) November 6, 2020
As noted above, the other player on the injury list is Aldon Smith, but the Cowboys owner also thinks he will be able to go on Sunday.
There is also the question of the return of Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. In that same press conference this morning, McCarthy was not very affirming of Awuzie returning. In fact, compared to how McCarthy usually speaks, you could have interpreted it as a pessimistic view of Awuzie playing. Still, there is a possibility he could be activated from IR and play on Sunday.
