What was supposed to be a marquee NFC East matchup when the schedule came out has turned into a desperation game for both teams. The Cowboys and the Eagles are holding on to slim playoff hopes and winning this game is essential to maintaining them. Of course, their destiny is not totally in their hands and a win by the Washington Football Team would render all of this moot, but the games roll on.
The Cowboys have somewhat righted their ship by winning three of their last five games. Consistent play from Andy Dalton and the offensive line have helped on offense. The big difference recently is the defense creating turnovers. A glut of them recently have given the Cowboys offense short fields to work with and they have made that pay off.
They might need some more of that this week as they go against rookie QB Jalen Hurts who has revived the Eagles offense with both his arm and his legs. The Cowboys defense typically struggles containing mobile quarterbacks so this week could be a real problem.
Both teams are looking for a win to keep fading hopes alive, so that should just add to the intensity of a rivalry that has plenty of heat already.
