Welcome to the place that none of us thought we could possibly see this season... Week 17 where the Dallas Cowboys are mathematically alive for an NFC East title.
2020 has certainly been a strange football ride for America’s Team and it is true that there is potentially more of this madness in store. The Dallas Cowboys are riding a three-game winning streak thanks to some stellar defensive play (shout out to DeMarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory, and rookie phenom Trevon Diggs) and offensive stability (Andy Dalton, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb were all great last week).
A year such as this would only save its true ridiculousness for its final act. As such Cowboys fans everywhere will be rooting on their own team and the Philadelphia Eagles this week because Dallas needs a loss from the Washington Football Team in combination with a victory for themselves to win their fourth NFC East title in seven seasons.
Of course, the New York Giants are in an identical position and while they have lost two games in a row, well, that actually does sort of tell the story of who they are. New York has gone four straight games scoring three or fewer points in the game’s opening half. Former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is the offensive coordinator for the G-Men these days and it goes without saying that this is going to be a big part of what decides who is rooting harder for Philadelphia come Sunday night.
