Cowboys free agency rumors: Could Dallas land defensive end Jadeveon Clowney?

Could you imagine?

Free agency has begun, the legal tampering part of it at least, and the Dallas Cowboys have not been all too active on the defensive side of the ball.

Sure Dallas has tagged Dak Prescott, extended Blake Jarwin, and re-signed Amari Cooper, but unless they plan out out-scoring their opponents every single week they are going to have to get some solid defensive players on their team soon.

On the subject of defense the Cowboys have already lost Byron Jones (Miami Dolphins) and Robert Quinn (Chicago Bears) in free agency. They have yet to bring in a defensive player, but perhaps they’re waiting for the right one.

Joe Thomas thinks Jadeveon Clowney will end up with the Cowboys

Players are often linked to the Cowboys considering the power of America’s Team and considering that we are literally in the middle of free agency season it should not be shocking to see this be the case. Still though, all rumors are worth paying attention to.

Former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas now makes his way as an analyst for NFL Network and on Tuesday he said something very interesting. He believes Jadeveon Clowney will end up with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys did in fact lose Robert Quinn to the Chicago Bears so the right side of their defensive line is in need of some power. Clowney is certainly one of the game’s more interesting pass-rushers, but after playing out the 2019 season on the franchise tag with the Seattle Seahawks (originally applied by the Houston Texans) it makes sense that he would want to get paid.

Clowney was of course the number one overall pick in 2014, a draft that saw the Cowboys land both Zack Martin and their actual star pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence. It would be incredible to see Clowney ultimately join them on the team not so far from his original one, but a lot has to happen for that to be the case.
