Now that the initial rush of free agent signings is dying down, is there any talent still left for the Cowboys? Sure there is, this is when the bargain shopping starts to happen. As of now, it would seem the Cowboys have four areas of need, although the organization might not agree with these choices.
In an attempt to offer up some names that might satisfy these needs, we surveyed some free agent lists and came up with the following names (of course these are not all-inclusive, you may have another name to throw in for consideration).
We’ll start with cornerback.
With Byron Jones heading to greener pastures, and only Anthony Brown and Maurice Canady signed, the Cowboys could still be looking for another quality corner. We know they had interest in Desmond Trufant, so they may still be looking.
Titans Logan Ryan
Ravens Jimmy Smith
Chiefs Bashaud Breeland
Packers Tramon Williams
Eagles Ronald Darby
Bills Kevin Johnson
Bears Prince Amukamara
The clear top name still on that list is Logan Ryan. He’s willing to go short-term, but he still wants to get paid.
Touched base with someone close to #Titans free agent CB Logan Ryan, one of the top players available. The versatile DB is open to entertaining all offers and will consider a short term deal. I’m told he won’t take less than $10M per year he earned last year.

Next up, defensive end.
Robert Quin got paid, and the Cowboys have no clear bookend to DeMarcus Lawrence. There are a lot of names that would be adequate bodies, but there are two still out there that have pedigree.
Clowney is surprisingly not getting paid yet. He’s young and talented, but his medical history may be a problem. There was a rumor spread about Cowboys interest earlier in the tampering period, but was shot down by other journalists. Why? Because he wants tons o’ money.
Sources say Jadeveon Clowney wants about $20mill per year. Interested teams aren’t coming up that high as of now. Look at the players in his position who were tagged, Judon, Dupree, Barrett, Yannick. Teams don’t want to pay $5mill more than the franchise tag.

Griffen is reportedly drawing interest from some other teams. For the Cowboys, there’s always the Randy Gregory factor. It would be interesting to know how much they are thinking about him in their plans.
Safety has been an issue for the Cowboys for a long time. Let’s take a look.
Browns safety Damarious Randall
Bears safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
Saints safety Vonn Bell
Panthers safety Eric Reid
Dolphins Reshad Jones
Chargers safety Adrian Phillips
Browns Morgan Burnett
There are several players on that list with past connections to head coach Mike McCarthy. Will the Cowboys make a move now? They did re-sign Darian Thompson but it hardly seems like he’s the answer.
Finally, wide receiver.
It’s not like the Cowboys are desperate here. They have Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. But their reported interest in Emmanuel Sanders after Randall Cobb signed elsewhere is a hint they may be still looking.
Jets receiver Robby Anderson
49ers receiver Emmanuel Sanders
Buccaneers receiver Breshad Perriman
Chiefs receiver Demarcus Robinson
Titans Tajae Sharpe
Sanders is the hot name here. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Okay BTB, who are your favorites for the Cowboys to go out and sign as of now?
