Cowboys free agency: Dallas bringing back linebacker Joe Thomas

The linebacker is returning.

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys already bolstered their linebacker depth this week when they finalized an agreement to bring veteran Sean Lee back. That put a lot of people at ease.

Having depth at any position in the NFL is a luxury. The higher volume of solid players you can have, the better. The reality of football is that you can often be tested and you never want to be unprepared.

Dallas is re-stocking at linebacker once again and they’re bringing back someone that a lot of fans are very high on.

The Cowboys are bringing back linebacker Joe Thomas

On the same day that BTB spoke with former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas (listen to our conversation talking about Jadeveon Clowney right here) the Cowboys themselves wanted to get in on Joe Thomas action... the linebacker!

The Cowboys are in fact bringing linebacker Joe Thomas back to the fold and it makes sense considering he has familiarity with new head coach Mike McCarthy during their time together in Green Bay.

Thomas is a versatile and athletic linebacker that has played 25 games for the Cowboys over the last two years. Having him around is an incredible benefit, especially on special teams.

Welcome back, Joe.
