Cowboys free agent rumors: Dallas interested in defensive lineman Everson Griffen

A move for Griffen would drastically help the defensive line.

As things stand on the first Friday of the New League Year, the Dallas Cowboys have added three free agents that were not on their team last year. Those players are Gerald McCoy, Maurice Canady, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. While the Clinton-Dix signing got a lot of discussion going due to the fact that the Cowboys have historically not done much to address safety, it is arguably the first one in Gerald McCoy that could make the biggest impact.

Getting pressure up front makes a lot of things more manageable in football. By bringing in McCoy, the Cowboys have another tool at their disposal for that, but what if they went out and added even more?

The Cowboys reportedly have interest in defensive lineman Everson Griffen

Among the more well-known free agents still on the market is a prominent defensive end, Everson Griffen.

Names like these are often ones that Cowboys fans get their hopes up for but ultimately are left disappointed. If you’re ready to dance this dance one more time, it is worth noting that the Dallas Cowboys are at the very least interested in Griffen.

Griffen finished the 2019 season as PFF’s 26th ranked defensive end. He had eight sacks through 15 games and was a huge part of why the Minnesota Vikings made the playoffs.

The Cowboys lost Robert Quinn to the Chicago Bears already this free agency season so landing someone like Griffen would go a long way towards bolstering their defense.

Fingers crossed.
