Last year, in free agency, the Cowboys added defensive lineman Kerry Hyder from the Detroit Lions. This year, in free agency, Kerry Hyder is moving on to the San Francisco 49ers.

Hyder served a hybrid role for the Cowboys, lining up at both defensive end and defensive tackle. He ended the year with 17 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery. He was also credited with seven hurries and two quarterback knockdowns. He was on the field for 41% of the snaps on defense last year. He also contributed on 6% of snaps on special teams.
The Cowboys seem to be in the process of turning over a portion of their defensive line. DeMarcus Lawrence, Gerald McCoy and Tyrone Crawford are the solid vets holding down the fort, and the hope is that Randy Gregory will also return. There is also a crew of young guys like Trysten Hill, Joe Jackson, Dorance Armstrong and others will try to break into the regular rotation.
