We are officially in the second week of free agency and there are still plenty of players to be had. To this point the Dallas Cowboys have brought in four external free agents: Gerald McCoy, Maurice Canady, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, and most recently Blake Bell. Over the weekend we asked BTB which one you all were most happy with and Gerald McCoy, granted this was before the Cowboys brought in the incomparable Blake Bell, won in a landslide.
McCoy was part of the Carolina Panthers defensive line last season. If you were thrilled with the addition of him in the middle then odds are you are going to be fairly pleased with the move that the Cowboys set into final motion on Wednesday.
The Dallas Cowboys are bringing in DT Dontari Poe
While the Cowboys already brought in Gerald McCoy, they also lost Maliek Collins. The state of the defensive tackle position still needed work and it now has two former Carolina Panthers... say hello to Dontari Poe.
The #Cowboys have agreed to basic terms on a deal for free agent DT Dontari Poe, source said. They are finalizing the language on the deal, but it will get done. Another big-name former #Panthers DT in free agency.

Poe is not yet 30 years old which is very promising for the future of this group. With Poe and McCoy, the Cowboys now have a set of starters that is worth getting moderately excited about.
We all know how much the Cowboys have fallen in love with compensatory picks in recent memory and there is good news on that front in terms of Dontari Poe. Due to a new wrinkle in 2020, the fact that the Carolina Panthers declined Poe’s option means he is not eligible to be factored into the compensatory pick formula. It’s a cost-free signing for Dallas except for the salary cap number.
The Cowboys landed a highly-skilled offensive player on Wednesday.

Jim Tomsula has two new toys at his new post in Dallas, here’s hoping he can turn both new and old into something fun.
